Summer Spin: Meet DJ Scott D Rock

At CREW, live music is the heartbeat of the place. Nightly at 8:30 all summer long, somebody's up on that stage with a guitar and a setlist, and the room settles into that easy Ogunquit rhythm — dinner plates going out, the bar three deep, somebody's cousin requesting a song they only half remember the words to.

But every now and then, we wanted something different. Something a little louder. Something with a dance floor.

So we made Summer Spin.

What Summer Spin actually is

Summer Spin is the night we swap the guitar for the decks. On select weekend nights, instead of a live act, CREW turns into a proper dance party. There's no other music on the schedule those nights — it's the DJ, all night, and the whole room is in on it.

The man behind it is DJ Scott D Rock. He takes the stage at 10pm.

And here's the part that makes it very Ogunquit: Scott is a local police officer.

He serves the community by day and tracks by night.

We say it as a joke, but honestly it's the whole reason Summer Spin works. This isn't a DJ we booked out of a catalog from three states away. This is a guy who knows this town — who knows the faces in the room, the summer regulars, the year-round crew, the seasonal staff who finally clocked out and want to move. When Scott reads the room, he's reading people he actually knows. You can feel the difference.

What the night feels like

The first Summer Spin was in July. The floor filled. People who came in for dinner stayed for three more hours. There was a moment somewhere around eleven where the whole place was moving at once and the bar staff just looked at each other like, okay, this is a thing now.

The second one is Friday, August 14th.

Here's what you should know going in. You don't need a reservation and you don't need a plan — just come. Come early and make a night of it if you want; the kitchen's going and the full menu runs until 10, with the late-night menu and pizza carrying you to 11. Or come at 9:45, grab a drink, and be on the floor when Scott starts.

Either way works. That's sort of the point.

It's a CREW summer, and this is the loud part of it.

Scott's on the calendar well past Labor Day, because it turns out a dance floor is a good idea in November too. Here's the full run:

About that October 31st

We need to talk about Halloween.

Halloween 2026 falls on a Saturday. Do you understand what that means? No work the next morning. No "I'd love to but it's a Tuesday." No excuses. The one night a year everyone secretly wants to dress up gets handed to us on the best night of the week, and there is a DJ already on the calendar.

So we are not going to half-do this. October 31st at CREW is going to be a proper Monster Mash.

Costumes, obviously. Not optional in spirit, even if we can't technically enforce it. We want the effort in the room — the couple who coordinated, the group who went as a bit nobody understands until the third explanation, the guy who clearly decided at 6pm and is wearing a bedsheet. All of it. The bedsheet guy is important to the ecosystem.

Scott's building a set for it. Which means the classics get played — you know the ones, the songs that only get an airing once a year and then wait patiently in the dark for twelve months — mixed into the kind of night where the floor doesn't clear.

And here's the thing about Halloween in Ogunquit: this town already goes all in on it. OgunquitFest takes over the weekend of October 23rd through 25th with trick-or-treating downtown, the Dogtoberfest costume parade, and the High Heel Dash in Perkins Cove. It's wonderful and it's very much a daytime, family, whole-town affair.

Which leaves Halloween night itself — the actual 31st, on a Saturday — wide open for the grown-up version. Same costumes, later hour, considerably more bass.

Come as something. Come at 10. Stay too late.
